A new story for every empty wine bottle

At Vinyes d’Olivardots, we believe that sustainability is not a one-time action but a way of thinking, creating, and working. It is a philosophy that guides every decision we make, from the vineyard to the table. That is why we decided to give every empty bottle a new story.

When our wine bottles reach the end of their life after a tasting, a food pairing, or a wine fair, we do not see them as waste. Instead, each bottle is carefully transformed by hand into a unique new piece with its own character: trays, plates, and glasses that continue to tell the story of the wine from a fresh perspective. This is our way of giving glass a second life while reducing waste.

The result is much more than tableware; it is a tangible expression of our values through elegant, simple, and functional design. To us, sustainability also means rediscovering the materials we use and creating a truly circular economy.

These upcycled pieces are part of our everyday life at the winery. We use them during service at our Wine Bar, for our wine and food pairing tastings, and throughout many of the experiences we offer. In this way, every visit becomes a small demonstration of how respect for nature can be naturally integrated into even the simplest daily gestures. The collection is also available for anyone who would like to take home a piece of this philosophy. You can purchase these products both at the winery shop and through our online store.

Our commitment goes beyond bottle recycling. We also ensure that the packaging accompanying our wines and products reflects the same principles of environmental responsibility. That is why we use FSC-certified materials, guaranteeing the responsible management of forests and natural resources.

Beyond the way we manage our materials, at Vinyes d’Olivardots we have embraced environmentally responsible practices since the very beginning. Our approach to viticulture is rooted in the principles of biodynamic farming, incorporating phytotherapy to prevent and treat potential vine diseases. As a result, we do not use chemical products or their associated packaging. Instead, we produce our own preparations using natural ingredients that work in harmony with our ecosystem without placing any negative impact on the natural resources that sustain it.

During the vineyard’s dormant months, the winery’s flock of sheep grazes among the vines, naturally controlling ground cover while enriching the soil with manure. Later, this manure—together with that from our hens—is added to the compost we produce, which also incorporates all the organic matter generated during pruning and harvest. This compost nourishes the soil and completes a natural cycle, bringing together all our agricultural practices within the rhythms of the landscape and the life that surrounds it.

We are aware that, despite these measures, no winery can completely eliminate the environmental impact of its activity. One example is the CO₂ released during grape fermentation. For this reason, from the outset we implemented an innovative system that connects fermentation tanks, allowing us to capture and reuse this gas.

Finally, it is worth noting that the water used for irrigation comes from our own well, and that in 2018 we installed a solar panel system capable of powering all winery operations, both day and night. Recycling, reusing and reorganizing materials is part of our way of understanding wine, because we believe that every small initiative adds up when it comes to caring for the landscape that inspires us. Our practices have received several recognitions and some of the most recent are: the Nissan award for the best ecological project at the 2022 Vinari Awards , being named one of the best sustainable producers in the State by BBVA in 2025 and the Best Sustainable Project award this 2026 at Arrels del Vi. These and other awards encourage us to continue moving in this direction.
