VD’O 6 one of the bests whites of 2024 by Tim Atkin

Last Wednesday, February 7, within the framework of the Barcelona Wine Week 2024 Fair, the Master of Wine Tim Atkin together with Fintan Kerr presented the Special Report Catalunya 2024 after tasting more than 1,000 wines around the Catalan territory.

The event took place in the Principe Room of the Barcelona Fair venue through a tasting of 8 wines selected from the 57 that were above 95 points, “The quality is very high, I didn’t think there was so much diversity in Catalonia” he explains Atkin during the event.

The Vd’O 6 – Carinyena Blanca 2021 from Vinyes d’Olivardots was one of those selected, being on the Best White Wines 2024 list with a score of 96 points.

A Carinyena Blanca that wants to transmit the historical roots of Empordà and the old vineyards. Vd’O 6 comes from Comamillana plot, a vineyard from 1.900 grown on alluvial soil with pebble stones and flint. This wine seeks to show the purity of the terroir and the variety, being made in a stainless-steel tank and lees work for 8 months, by Carme Casacuberta and Carlota Pena, winemakers at Vinyes d’Olivardots winery.
